Ingredients
8 oz elbow macaroni
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup cream cheese
4 cups milk
4 cloves garlic, minced
4 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp mustard powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp paprika
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
1. 1. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. 2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
3. 3. Stir in the flour, mustard powder, salt, pepper, and paprika, cooking for another minute until well blended.
4. 4. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
5. 5. Remove from heat and stir in cream cheese until melted. Mix in the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until fully melted and combined.
6. 6. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring until the pasta is well coated.
7. 7. Transfer the mac and cheese to a greased baking dish. Top with crumbled bacon and breadcrumbs.
8. 8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy.
Notes
For extra flavor, feel free to add more spices or herbs of your choice. You can also substitute the cheeses according to your preference. This dish is best served immediately.
