Ingredients
4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Fresh chives for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
4. Add sour cream, milk, melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth.
5. Stir in half of the cheddar cheese.
6. Transfer the mashed potatoes to a greased casserole dish.
7. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and breadcrumbs.
8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
9. Garnish with fresh chives before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, add cooked bacon bits or sautéed onions to the potato mixture.
You can make this dish ahead of time and bake it just before serving.
