Ingredients

Scale

1 lb ground beef (80/20)

Salt and pepper to taste

4 hamburger buns

Cheese slices (optional)

Lettuce, tomato, and onion for toppings

Ketchup and mustard for serving

Instructions

1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.

2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions.

3. Form each portion into a loose ball without compacting it.

4. Place the beef balls on the hot skillet and smash them down with a spatula.

5. Season with salt and pepper.

6. Cook for about 3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip and add cheese if desired.

7. Toast the buns on the skillet for 1-2 minutes.

8. Assemble the burgers with your choice of toppings.

9. Serve immediately with ketchup and mustard.

Notes

For best results, use a cast-iron skillet.

Experiment with different toppings to customize your burger.

Make sure not to overwork the beef to keep it tender.
