Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (80/20)
Salt and pepper to taste
4 hamburger buns
Cheese slices (optional)
Lettuce, tomato, and onion for toppings
Ketchup and mustard for serving
Instructions
1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
2. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions.
3. Form each portion into a loose ball without compacting it.
4. Place the beef balls on the hot skillet and smash them down with a spatula.
5. Season with salt and pepper.
6. Cook for about 3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip and add cheese if desired.
7. Toast the buns on the skillet for 1-2 minutes.
8. Assemble the burgers with your choice of toppings.
9. Serve immediately with ketchup and mustard.
Notes
For best results, use a cast-iron skillet.
